In the world today, there are people who, on a daily basis, survive with little or no food. That is especially true in Guatemala. The poverty rate in Guatemala is over 52%. In Guatemala most people earn about 2 dollars a day to feed their families and pay their bills. The cost for utilities and food is very close to the prices in the United States. Could you support your family on 60 dollars a month?
The Lord laid on my heart to reach out to the families in Vista Hermosa, Villa Hermosa and also the village of Tuscan who are seriously struggling. We began a program of handing out 6 bags of groceries to 6 to 7 families a week.
We now are sponsoring 38 families in these communities and this list keeps growing. This, like our lunch program, started out slow but as time has gone by the number of families coming to Hands in Action has increased.
Unfortunately our budget can only handle so much. When you partner with DSI Ministries, your donation helps us buy groceries for these families who are struggling to survive.
This is the reason we have started ”Help a Family Project” at DSI Ministries. We need your help, I hate turning away families who are in need of food right now and to this date we have not, but I have no more means of helping them. We are at our limit! Would you please help and for $25.00 a month or more, you can help these families in need. You and your family can start making a difference now in a family’s life.
Our Vision
Currently we are feeding six to seven families a week. We have six groups of 6 or 7 families we cycle every week. I am believing we can increase the number up to 12 or 18 bags a week with your help, even more! Will you join our DSI Ministries Team today?
Update August 5,2011

For the past month we started helping another community in Guatemala. Originally, we were only helping and reaching out to Vista Hermosa, Well, word how we are helping people is getting out. For the past three Saturdays people from the neighboring community of Villa Hermosa have been showing up for help. Yesterday we began aiding a Pastor from there. There are alone thirty families who are struggling in this church alone. It will not be long until more families are here at our door.
Villa Hermosa is 30 to 45 minute walk to our project and many times these families are walking with little children in extreme temperatures in the high 90′s and 100 degree mark or in hard rains.
Interesting problem
We started praying, and asking our Lord; do we to open up a new project in Villa Hermosa or do we simply need to buy a truck to drive these families in for the Food Programs we host here at Hands in Action? Please join us in prayer for God’s direction.
If God leads you to help us in this problem. We need a answer, so if God lays something on your heart, please contact us on our contact page. God bless.
